Protect The Environment & Yourself

Did you know? solvent traps are 100% legal to own!

Some people are nervous and worried about utilizing or purchasing a solvent trap cleaning device to clean firearms. It's OK to be nervous, you are a law-abiding citizen and a responsible firearm owner. With a little due diligence, you will learn that using or owning a solvent catch  AKA solvent trap to clean your firearm is 100% legal. A solvent trap may look similar to NFA controlled items, however so does a Mag Lite or any other flashlight. It is what you do with the item that determines the legality. Using a solvent trap for its intended purpose, to safely clean and store your firearm, while protecting the environment, and yourself from harmful cleaning chemicals Is 100% legal.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms considers a solvent trap a “Firearm Accessory.” The BATF recognizes that a Solvent Trap can be attached to the end of the barrel, with an adapter, as a cleaning accessory and is not considered as anything other than an accessory because a projectile, or bullet, cannot pass through the tube without modification. This means the solvent traps can be purchased and sold without any paperwork or an NFA tax stamp. You do not need a Form 1 to purchase a Solvent Trap.

However, Repurposing a solvent trap into an NFA controlled item prior to filing and obtaining an approval from the BATF is a Federal crime.
You must have all your approvals from the BATF in hand before making any modifications. Failure to do so is a violation of Federal Law. We are not responsible for your actions and we DO NOT condone ANY modifications to our products.
As a solvent trap owner, you are solely responsible for what you do with your solvent trap. If you do decide to modify the trap for anything but a cleaning aid, it is recommended  you read and follow the BATF regulations on NFA items. Please contact your local government agency to insure solvent traps are lawful within your jurisdiction.

We will not ship to any state that has publicly prohibited the use of a solvent trap. Contact your local BATF office for more information on how to re-purpose an item into a BAFT NFA controlled item.
